cheddar
cheese

beaten

buttermilk
Preheat
the
oven
to
375
F.
Sift
together
flours,
baking
powder,
and
salt
into
a
large
bowl.
Add
garlic
and
cheese
and
combine
well.
In
a
medium
bowl,
whisk
together
butter,
egg,
and
buttermilk.
Add
wet
ingredients
to
dry
ingredients
and
mix,
using
a
large
rubber
spatula.
When
dough
becomes
too
stiff,
use
your
hands
and
continue
to
mix,
forming
dough
into
a
ball.
Oil
an
8
1/2-inch
round
cake
pan.
Press
dough
into
the
cake
pan
and
use
a
sharp
knife
to
make
eight
wedges-shaped
cuts
about
1/4-inch
deep.
Bake
until
light
brown,
about
35-40
minutes.
Let
cool
on
a
wire
rack,
then
serve
in
wedges.
Variation:
One
delicious
way
to
serve
this
bread
is
to
slice
each
wedge
horizontally,
then
spread
the
crumbly
side
with
a
bit
of
sweet
butter
and
sprinkle
with
freshly
grated
Parmesan
cheese.
Broil
until
golden
and
serve
with
grilled
steak.
